Refund
Policy.
Our policy on refunds and billing for PortalKit subscriptions and add-ons.
Overview
PortalKit subscriptions and storage add-ons are generally non-refundable once purchased. This policy explains our position in full, including the limited circumstances in which we will issue a refund, and your rights under applicable consumer protection law.
All billing for PortalKit subscriptions and add-ons is processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd (Paddle), who acts as our Merchant of Record. Paddle appears on your bank or card statement as the merchant for PortalKit charges.
If you have a question about a charge, contact us first at billing@portalkit.app. We aim to resolve billing issues quickly and fairly.
Subscription plans
PortalKit Pro and Business subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Paddle. All subscription fees are non-refundable, except for the 24-hour opt-out described in the section below.
- No refund for the current billing period — if you cancel your subscription, your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. You will not be charged for the next period, but no refund is issued for the remaining days in the current period.
- No refund for past periods — we do not issue refunds for subscription fees charged in prior billing periods.
- Downgrades are not refunded — if you downgrade from a higher plan to a lower one, the change takes effect at the start of your next billing period. No partial refund is issued for the difference.
- Cancellation stops future charges — cancelling your subscription via your account settings or by contacting us will prevent any future renewal charges. You will retain access until the end of your paid period.
To cancel your subscription, go to your account settings or email billing@portalkit.app.
24-hour opt-out
PortalKit does not offer a free trial. Instead, if you subscribe to a paid plan for the first time — upgrading from Free to Pro or Business — you can cancel and receive a full, automatic refund within 24 hours of subscribing, self-service, from your account settings. No support ticket is needed.
- Applies to new subscriptions only — this opt-out covers the initial Free-to-paid subscribe action only. Upgrading, downgrading, or renewing an existing subscription does not start a new 24-hour window and is not itself eligible for this refund.
- Access ends immediately — unlike the standard cancellation policy in the section above, opting out under this policy ends your paid access as soon as the refund is confirmed, rather than continuing until the end of the billing period.
- One-time use — this opt-out can be used once per subscription. We reserve the right to deny repeat or abusive use of this opt-out (for example, repeatedly subscribing and opting out).
To use this opt-out, go to your account settings within 24 hours of subscribing and select the refund option shown there. This is the sole exception to the non-refundable policy described above.
Storage add-ons
Storage add-ons (+10 GB blocks) are billed as recurring monthly subscriptions through Paddle, separate from your Pro or Business plan subscription. The same no-refund policy above applies to each block:
- No refund for the current billing period— cancelling a block stops future charges for it, but the +10 GB it grants remains available until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
- Cancel independently — each block can be cancelled on its own via your account settings without affecting your plan subscription or other storage blocks.
Storage add-ons are applied to your account immediately upon successful payment. If your Pro or Business plan subscription lapses to Free, any storage add-ons you still hold continue billing separately and remain inaccessible until you re-subscribe to a paid plan.
If a storage add-on purchase fails or you are charged but the storage is not credited to your account, contact us at billing@portalkit.app within 30 days and we will investigate.
Free trial
We may offer a free trial for paid plans from time to time. If a free trial is available, it will be clearly displayed before you enter any payment details.
- Cancel before the trial ends — you will not be charged if you cancel your subscription before the free trial period expires. Your account will revert to the Free plan.
- No refund after trial converts — if your trial converts to a paid subscription because you did not cancel in time, the subscription fee is non-refundable under the standard policy above.
A reminder email is sent before the end of any active free trial. You can cancel at any time via your account settings.
Billing errors & disputes
We take billing accuracy seriously. If you believe you have been charged incorrectly — for example, due to a duplicate charge, a charge after cancellation, or a charge for the wrong amount — please contact us promptly.
How to report a billing error
- Email billing@portalkit.app
- Include your account email address
- Include the date and amount of the charge in question
- Describe why you believe the charge is incorrect
Our process
We will acknowledge your request within 2 business days and investigate the charge. If we confirm a billing error, we will issue a full or partial refund as appropriate, processed back to your original payment method via Paddle. Refunds typically take 5–10 business days to appear on your statement depending on your card issuer or bank.
Time limit
Billing error claims must be submitted within 30 days of the charge date. We are unable to investigate or refund claims submitted after this window except in exceptional circumstances.
Unauthorised charges on your card that you did not initiate should be reported to your card issuer or bank directly. You may also contact Paddle support at paddle.com/help to dispute a charge directly with the Merchant of Record.
Paddle as Merchant of Record
All PortalKit subscription and add-on payments are billed by Paddle.com Market Ltd, who acts as the Merchant of Record for every transaction. This means:
- Paddle is the merchant that appears on your bank or card statement — not PortalKit.
- Paddle is responsible for collecting and remitting applicable taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax) on your behalf.
- Billing disputes or charge-back requests may be raised directly with Paddle via their customer support portal.
- Paddle processes refunds on our instruction; refund timelines depend on Paddle’s processing and your card issuer.
We recommend contacting us first at billing@portalkit.app before raising a dispute with Paddle or your bank, as we can often resolve issues faster.
